Next News is one of the biggest news networks in Australia and the network has been working with its new boss, James Breen, since 2015.
Breen was previously the CEO of The Australian Broadcasting Corporation, where he also ran The Business, a business news show.
He also ran the Australian Broadcasting Institute, which is the largest independent Australian media organisation.
Briean said Next News was going to focus on breaking news, not political and financial coverage, which he said is not the focus of the network’s original content.
“I’m happy that the audience has been able to get a good understanding of our coverage and what we’re doing, which I think is very important to the future of the business,” he said.
“We’re really focusing on what is happening in our world today and that’s going to be what we are focusing on in our new partnership.”
The other news network on the network, Marquee Sports Network, will be the next destination for the channel, with Breen set to bring the network from a one-person operation into a team-based one.
Brienne said Next was not looking to sell its assets.
“Next News is not looking at selling any of our properties.
It’s not going to sell any of the assets we have,” she said.
Breyer said the new network would focus on the local and regional news that would be delivered to the network by the likes of ABC Radio Australia, SBS News, ABC TV, ABC News and ABC News Breakfast.
“It’s really going to get the local news and the regional news in the country,” he explained.

Brienie said the network would be building on its existing content.
In 2017, the network launched a new weekly radio show called ‘The Local News’, which is hosted by former ABC journalist Chris Ritchie.
BBrienne said she would like to see more regional and local stories and would like the network to have a more local approach to the reporting.
“When we started out we did a lot of local reporting but we didn’t really take the local approach,” she explained.
The network would also be working with a range of news organisations to create local news, she said, and “we’ll be working on that, too.”
The network has recently released a ‘must-see’ documentary, ‘Live at the Top’, which focuses on the state of Australian journalism.
“There’s so much work that goes on behind the scenes, in the office and the boardrooms, and so much more we’re going to have to get our feet underneath to get to that ground,” Briene said.
